IntraVenous Fluid Production Unit

The only state owned IV Fluid Plant in the country has started its operation in 1973, with the support of WHO and UNICEF. Since then, the Unit has been producing high quality life saving intravenous fluids such as dextrose in aqua and normal saline, normal saline, cholera saline, 3% sodium chloride solution, Hartman’s solution, baby saline, peritoneal dialysis and haemodialysis fluid, The Unit yearly producing 1.5 million bags of intavenous fluid, and distributed to the public hospitals across the country for the patients at free of cost, which covers some 50% of the total requirement. Private sector also receiving its fluids partic ularly 3% sodium chloride solution.
